Mackerel Treats – Soft

Ingredients
- 15 oz can of mackerel (do NOT drain)
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups oatmeal flour
- 1-2 tablespoons water
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Prepare baking sheet by lining with parchment paper
In a medium bowl beat eggs lightly, add can of mackerel, with liquid, and then flour. Using a dough knife mix everything together until smooth. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons, more may be needed, of water to make dough easy to spread.
Pour dough onto prepared baking sheet and spread with a spatula. The dough should be approximately 1/4″ thick when it’s spread out onto the sheet.
Cook approximately 15 minutes or until the dough is a darker brown than when it was placed in the oven.
Pull the parchment paper off the cookie sheet and cut into 1″ squares. I use a pizza cutter to cut the cookies while hot.
Transfer cookies to cooling rack and cool completely.
Store cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freeze. If you freeze the cookies make sure and defrost before giving to your pup.
Hint: I make my own oatmeal flour by grinding oatmeal in my spice/coffee grinder. It’s much cheaper than buying it and is the same product when you are finished.
