Oven Heat Conversions
Over the years I have been asked about oven temps on older recipes and have had to deal with the same issue with my grandmother’s recipes. I put together a little chart that I keep in the front of my personal cookbook because it’s a pain to remember exactly or go look them up all the time. I have also added in the Celsius equivalent for my friends outside the US. I hope you find this chart as helpful as I have.
Cool Oven – 200F or 90C
Very Slow Oven Oven Conversions – 250F or 120C
Slow Oven – 300-325F or 150-160C
Moderately Slow Oven – 325-350F or 160-180C
Moderate Oven – 350-375F or 180-180C
Moderately Hot Oven – 375-400F or 190-200C
Hot Oven – 400-450F or 200-230C
Very Hot Oven – 450-500F or 230-260C
Fast Oven – 450-500F or 230-260C
I have never been asked about gas marks but wanted to give you that as well because I have some recipes from the old country that I use and had to figure out the gas mark to Fahrenheit conversion. I have once again added in the Celsius conversion as well.
